    1851 (Dec 18): 1 d. carmine on thick yellowish paper, position 9, a superb four margined example with sheet margin at top and showing 'WALE' for 'WALES' plate variety clearly, used on 1852 cover to the Police Office in Sydney, tied by dotted obliterator and by framed '6 / O CLOCK' handstamp in black. The cover with closed tear well away from the adhesive, reverse showing 'Sydney / Crown / New South Wales' cds in black (Dec 18).
