    Mail from Greek Offices in the Levant 1875: Registered cover from Volos to Great Britain endorsed 'via Corfu & Brindisi' carried at 220 lepta rate franked by 1872/75 20 l. deep blue and five 40 l. bistre on blued transparent paper, faults and applied over the edge of the envelope, all well tied by 'Volos / (Turkey)' despatch cds's (Jan 30) in black. Greek 'Registered' cachet in black and reverse with Piraeus transit cds and Bodmin arrival datestamps (Feb 20, gregorian). Despite the contemporary faults to the adhesives, a rare cover to an unusual destination, especially so for registered mail.rnrnNote: The rate of 220 lepta is made up of 40 lepta Volos - Greece, 110 lepta rate to GB + 70 lepta for registration.
