    Mail from Great Britain via Italy 1871: Cover sent unpaid from Manchester to Patras, Greece endorsed 'via Brindisi' carried at single rate with partially obscured Manchester despatch (Aug 21) and thence (avoiding France due to Franco-Prussian War and it's aftermath) via Germany and the Tyrol to Brindisi, franked on arrival with 1868/72 5 l. green on greenish, touched at left, fine 10 l. orange, 20 l. deep blue and 80 l.carmine all tied by 'Patras' cds's (Aug 18, julian). Blue manuscript crayon '115' (lepta) on front for under 15 grams rate. Reverse with Kerkyra and Patras cds's. An attractive four colour franking. Illustrated in 'Les Tarifs Helléniques' on page 146.
