    Mail to Great Britain via Marseilles 1870: Cover from Athens to Liverpool at newly introduced 92 lepta rate, franked by 1862/67 2 l. brown, 10 l. orange on blue and just touched 80 l. carmine all tied by dotted '1' numeral of Athens with despatch datestamp (Jan 22) and framed PD in red alongside. Reverse with Liverpool arrival cds (Feb 10, gregorian). Minor edge wear to envelope but a fresh and fine cover carried under the Greek / GB Convention that came into force on January 1 / Jan 13, 1870. Rare.rnrnNote: The Convention allowed 15 gram letters to GB to be sent via France, Italy or Belgium.
