    Mail from the Levant to Greece via French Paquebot 1874: Entire letter from the French P. O. in Dardanelli, Turkey sent unpaid to Syros, struck with LES DARDANELLES / TURQUIE datestamp of despatch (April 22) with extremely rare usage of the tax marking '45 LEP' alongside (Van der Linden fig. 3330A) denoting the single rate. Franked on arrival with 1872/75 5 l. bright green on greenish and 40 l. deep mauve on blued tied by dotted '67' numeral with arrival cds on reverse. File fold affects the adhesives but extremely rare - one of just two recorded covers from this Office taxed in Greece. Illustrated in 'Les Tarifs Helléniques' on page 118.
