    Mail from the Levant to Greece via French Paquebot 1871: Cover front from the French P. O. in Constantinople sent unpaid to Athens, struck with octagonal  CONSTANTINOPLE / P. FR. U No. 1 datestamp (Feb 22) in black (Salles fig. 882) and carried on the ''Scamandre' with rare usage of the tax marking '45 LEP' alongside (Van der Linden fig. 3330A) denoting the single rate. Franked on arrival with 1868/70 5 l. yellow green on greenish and 40 l. dull mauve on blued tied by Athens arrival cds (Feb 14, julian). Faults to the adhesives but extremely rare. Illustrated in 'Les Tarifs Helléniques' on page 119.
