    Underpaid Mail from France to Greece 1872: Entire letter from Lyon to Athens, franked by 1870 Bordeaux 40 c. orange, cut into at base, tied on despatch by 2145 gros chiffres with obscured Lyon datestamp at right (Jan 6). Struck with framed AFFRANCHISEMENT / INSUFFISANT in black and with manuscript '50' (centimes) in ink and '50' (lepta) in red crayon to pay the calculation done at parity (1 centime = 1 lepta) - and the letter charged at 50 lepta to pay (90 lepta for unpaid cover, less 40 centimes = 50 centimes / lepta due). Franked by 1868 10 c. orange and 1871 40 l. yellowish bistre on blued on arrival and tied by 'Athens' cds (Jan 6, julian). Despite the margins on two stamps, a rare and colourful cover with less than five recorded Bordeaux issue covers known in combination with Hermes heads.
