    Underpaid Mail from France to Greece 1867: Entire letter on 'Compagnie Générale de Messageries' notepaper, mailed from Marseillle to Piraeus, Greece franked by 1862 10 c. bistre and 20 c. blue (2) tied by 2240 gros chiffres on depatch (Aug 23). Underpaid by 50 centimes and struck with AFFRANCHISEMENT / INSUFFISANT in red. Cover marked with '132' (lepta) in red manuscript - thus treated as unpaid and charged the full amount due with the prepaid 50 centimes not taken into account. Franked by 1862/67 2 l. dull yellow brown, 10 l. bright orange on blued, defective 40 l. mauve on blued and 80 l. carmine all tied by Athens cds's (Aug 16, julian). Despite the faults a very scarce and colourful cover. Illustrated in 'Les Tarifs Helléniques' on page 124.
