    Part paid Mail from Egypt to Greece 1871: Cover from Port Said to Syros, franked by Egypt 1867 1 pi. red (Gi. 14) tied by POSTE VICE-REALI EGIZIANE / PORT SAID cds (same day) with repeated strike alongside, struck on reverse with POSTE VICE-REALI EGIZIANE / ISMAILIA transit cds in black of despatch (Nov 2), thence via Cairo to the Egyptian Office in Alexandria with transit cds (Nov 5) on reverse and slightly smudged Greek P. O. in Alexandria cds on front panel. The Egyptian 1 piastre 'Port to Port' rate not valid to a non-Egyptian Office and taxed on arrival at 40 lepta (the cost of a single prepaid letter from Alexandria) with 1862/67 40 l. dull mauve on blued tied by Syros cds (Oct 27, julian).
