    1849/50: Cérès 40 c. orange, fresh horizontal pair in a bright shade, margins close to large all round, left hand stamp showing variety 'Retouched '4' in '40' (positions 147-148), used on single rate 1853 cover to Basingstoke, England tied by 3398 petit chiffres with 'Tours' despatch datestamp alongside (April 24). Framed PD in red at right and both London cds in red and Basingstoke arrival cds (April 26) at right. A very rare, charming and most attractive cover. Signed Calves, cert. Calves (2000) Maury 5fa = € 28'250/Yvert = € 15'000+.
