    1849/50: Cérès 15 c. green on greenish paper, a fine large margined example used on First Day of Issue - the adhesive of excellent colour and tied by neat strike of the grill obliterator in black, the entire letter mailed within Paris with circular P.P. cachet in red at right and 'L/8' in red above. Reverse with clearly struck  datestamp ' Paris 29-JUIL-50' in black. Wax seal removed and letter dated internally July 29th and docketing of reply July 31st., 1850. An extraordinary entire of great importance to classic French philately. Signed twice by Roger Calves. Cert Calves (1987).
    Cérès 15 c. vert oblit. grille sur lettre locale de Paris du 29 juillet 1850 avec cachet PP rouge rue du Midi, L8 et cachet d'arrivée au verso du même jour. Première date connue d'utilisation de ce timbre. Une pièce importante de la philatélie classique française. Certificat Calves (1987).
