    Cérès 1 fr. carmine 'clair', a horizontal strip of three with ample to large margins all round, of outstanding impression and vibrant colour, used on 1849 cover to New York, USA tied by three strikes of the grill obliterator with 'Paris' despatch cds struck in red at left. Framed 'PD' in red and London transit cds (Nov 3) in red. Carried on the Cunard Steamer 'America' and struck on arrival with framed '5' credit handstamp in black. The cover with vertical file fold well away from adhesives and reverse with 'Ligne de Calais' cds. A dramatic and most attractive Transatlantic usage. Signed A. Diena, Roumet. Cert. A.
