    Cérès 40 c. orange on yellowish, a fine large margined example with portions of adjoining stamps at right and at base, used on underpaid 1852 cover to Basel, Switzerland tied by dotted 3115 petit chiffres with 'St. Hippolyte du Fort' despatch datestamp (Feb. 3) at right. Cover marked 'Timbre Insuf.' in manuscript at top and charged '70' (rappen) due on receipt in red crayon. Reverse with 'Suisse / St. Louis' entry marking in red and 'Basel / Vormittag' cds in red (Feb. 6). A rare and most attractive cover.
