    1 / 1
Cérès 15 c. green on greenish paper, a fine large margined horizontal pair, used on 1852 cover from Paris to Amiens, tied by mute Paris Star obliterators in black. Sender's cachet at top and 'Paris-2-3E-(60)' datestamp of despatch at right (Oct 27) in black. Reverse with 'Ligne De Calais' cds (Oct. 27) and Amiens arrival cds. The pair lifted for checking and hinged back into place. A great rarity of classic French philately. Cert. Calves (2000) Maury 2 = € 60'000.

Cérès 15 c. vert en paire (détachée pour contrôle et replacée avec charnière) sur lettre oblit. étoile de Paris, cachet Paris 27 oct. 52, pour Amiens avec cachet d'arrivée au verso. Une grande rareté.

Note: The internal single rate for an under 7½ gram letter was raised from 20 c. to 25 c. on July 1, 1850 (the day of issue of the Cérès 25 c.). The above cover thus represents an overpayment of 5 centimes.
