100 r. green in two horizontal pairs, one split on opening the Febraury 1875 entire letter, mailed from Cubatao (Santa Catherina) to Firminy, France via Rio de Janeiro (March 7) by French Paquebot with entry marking 'Bresil / Bordeaux' in red (April 2) and Firminy arrival cds (April 4) in black. Re-addressed to Rixheim, Alsace Lorraine with Siège 40 c. orange tied by bold 1508 gros chiffres. Cover opens well for display, a remarkable and most unusual entire. Cert. Moorhouse (2013).

Superb SANTA CATHERINA cds at left (Sept 9) and stamps cancelled in blue (both by segmented and by dotted 'star' cancel) and also by oval framed INSUFICIENTE in red. Marked '2' in manuscript in red on front for double rate; reverse with Rio transit cds in blue (Sept 15) and German arrival and marked '3' in manuscript in red to collect. Unusually not charged with French charge marking with obverse showing BRESIL / AMB. CALAIS E (Oct 19) entry mark (Salles 1186) in black.
