By the same time the following year, plates were showing significant signs of wear; the "Inclinados" issues were also released in July 1844. British Post Office 1871: Lettersheet with large part contents, franked with Great Britain 2d. blue (corner faults) and 1s. green, plate 4, both tied by "VALPARAISO PAID AU 30 71" duplex, addressed to Germany, endorsed "via Magallanes & England" and for this route correctly franked, red "LONDON PAID" and oval "PD" struck on front, Wissingen c.d.s. arrival backstamp (1 Nov), despite small faults an attractive and very rare letter; at the time the accompanying certificate was issued, only one further letter from Chile to Europe had been recorded taking the route via the Strait of Magellan.
