1877: The remarkable group of Officials from the De La Rue archives, with ten stamps affixed to three pieces: the first piece bearing 1 c. slate, 2 c. orange, 4 c. ultramarine and 8 c. rose; the second piece with the unissued 12 c. lilac and 24 c. green all overprinted with typographed OFFICIAL overprint (Type 2) centrally applied, these all further overprinted CANCELLED in violet, black or blue (Samuel D7), the third piece with 1 c. slate, 2 c. orange, 4 c. ultramarine and 6 c. brown all with OFFICIAL overprint (Type 2) struck at base of stamp, similarly overprinted CANCELLED in black or violet Samuel type D2). The rarity of these pieces are enhanced by the 2 c. orange clearly showing a doubling of the "2 CENTS" Duty Plate at base, an undoubtedly unique stamp. Illustrated in the "De La Rue Collection" edited by Frank Walton RDP on page 2355, where this flaw was evidently missed, a most extraordinary group.
