    1608/09: Venetian "AQ" letter-sheets with the Lion of St. Mark emblem between, the World's First Postal Stationery (pre-dating the 'Cavallino's and the Mulready by over two hundred years), small group of five items with a mint example and four used-all in the first two years of issue, one being dated February 1608. The "AQ" standing for "Acque" was printed at the top of each sheet along with the 1608 statute under which the system operated, with a further surcharge of 4 soldi for posting each letter. This system remained in operation until 1797 and early first year usages can be considered as rarities.

    1926 (Aug 1): Cover sent 'Express' from Rome to Constantinople on AEI (Trozzi) franked by 1926 Airmail set of four values all tied by Rome cds's and rare usage of BRINDISI / INAUGNE. LINEA AEREA LEVANTE datestamps in black. Nearly all the mail sent on this flight bears an Athens (Aug 2) cds, this cover presumably due to the destination and the Express endorsement was bagged and sent on, with arrrival (Aug 5) on reverse.
