Stato Pontificio 1852: 7 b. black on blue in a vertical strip of three tied to 1858 entire letter from Rome to Ribe, Denmark by grills in black, with Roma despatch cds (March 4) alongside. Manuscript "5+8+8" on reverse = Papal States share of 5 bajocchi + German share = 8 baj. (equivalent to 3 sgr.) and 8 baj. for the Danish share, alongside Thurn & Taxis and Danish P.O. in Hamburg cds's (March 12). A splendid and rare entire to an unusual destination.
Note: the March 30, 1852 convention between the Papal States and Austria was extended to include Denmark from Oct 27, 1852.
