    1852: 3 b. black on brown and a horizontal strip of three 6 b. black on grey tied to 1858 entire letter from Rome to Ribe, Denmark by grills in black, with Roma despatch cds (Feb 15) alongside. Manuscript "5+8+8" on reverse = Papal States share of 5 bajocchi + German share = 8 baj. (equivalent to 3 sgr.) and 8 baj. for the Danish share, alongside Thurn & Taxis and Danish P.O. in Hamburg cds's (Feb 24). Some trivial ageing but a splendid and rare entire to an unusual destination.
    Note: the March 30, 1852 convention between the Papal States and Austria was extended to include Denmark from Oct 27, 1852. The Danish share of the rate (3 bajocchi) was reduced on February 1, 1854 but not applied until late 1858 or early 1859.
