    1878 (Feb 18): Envelope endorsed 'From the Active Army' and 'To Russia', mailed at Fieldpost Office No. 7 situated in Sofia. Despatch datestamp on reverse, sent to St. Petersburg with Feb 24 evening and Feb 25 arrival cds's on reverse.

    Russian mail during War of Liberation 1877 (Oct 8): Russia Imperial Arms 8 kop. grey & carmine, tied by 'Pochtovij Vagon No. 25-26 (4) 21 8 Okt 1877' cds to letter card, written in in Tencho, Gorna Studena district, identical T.P.O. strike alongside, sent to Warsaw with arrival cds of the same day. Handwritten 'From the Southern Army on Active Service' and endorsed 'To Russia' on front. This cover was obviously intended to be send by Fieldpost but then taken privately to Russia and posted at T.P.O. No. 21 of the Granitsa - Sosnovitsi Railway line. Cover illustrated in Postrider No. 51 (2002).

    1896 (April 13): Boris baptism stationery postcard 5 st. green with 5 st. blue and 25 st. red of corresponding commemorative stamps, tied by SVICHTOV 14 IV 96 cds, sent via London, Gibraltar and Tanger to Mazagan / Morocco and retour to Bulgaria with ten different postmarks documenting this journey.

    1911: 50 st. brown orange & black, a superb used examples showing Inverted Centre variety clearly with part (Philippople) No. 1 datestamp at left in black. A magnificent example of this great rarity. Signed Calves Gi 167a = £ 7'000/Mi = EUR 7'500.
    Note: This variety was first discovered in 1918 by Nicola Kochanov of Sofia. The error had passed un-noticed by the public for 5-7 years, the only sheet with the variety being used at Philippople (Plovdiv). Therefore no mint examples are known.
