Air Mail 1926 (May 23 - Oct. 11): Duggan, Oliviero and Campanelli First Flight USA - Brazil - Uruguay - Two covers flown from Rio de Janeiro to Montevideo, one franked by 1924/32 200r other by 100r and pair of 50r., both tied by Rio de Janeiro cds and neat "AVIÃO "BUENOS AYRES" / =RAID= / New York-Rio de Janeiro-Buenos Ayres" framed hs in violet black. Only ten covers flown, a rarity of South American early airmails. Covers minimal toned, otherwise fine and scarce.rnNote: Carried from Rio de Janeiro to Montevideo by the seaplane "Buenos Ayres", piloted by Bernado Duggan, E. Olivero and Ernesto Campanelli. Prephilately 1839: Printed Matter entire letter written in German to London, endorsed "pr. Alert Pkt.", struck on despatch by fine "RIO-JANEIRO" double arc despatch cds (May 21) in black (early usage, known from January only). Reverse with London arrival (July 22) and manuscript notation "Only Double, Fredk. Huth & Co." and the rate changed from "10/6d." due to pay to a prepaid "7/-" in red manuscript. 1877 (15 July): Entire letter from Rio de Janeiro to Langenthal, forwarded to Langnau, Switzerland, endorsed "p. Orinoque", bearing 1866 60 r. black perforated, scissor cut at right in mixed franking with 1877 Dom Pedro 200 r. black rouletted, tied by segmented cork cancels, with "RIO DE JANEIRO" despatch cds alongside, French "BRESIL / BORDEAUX" entry cds in blue (6 Aug) tying the lower adhesive. Reverse struck by BERN transit, and LANGENTHAL arrival (7 Aug), then LANGNAU on the same day.
