    1846 Feb 3): Cover from Cap Haitien to Le Havre struck on despatch with superb negative "CAP-HAITIEN / PAYÉ" oval handstamp in black. British P.O. "JACMEL" double arc cds on reverse (March 11) and sent unpaid. London arrival on reverse (April 10) in red and struck there with 'COLONIES / &c. ART.13' handstamp in red. "LE HAVRE arrival cds (April 12) on reverse, charged '15' décimes due upon delivery. Scarce and very fine entire.

    1847 (July 30): Outer lettersheet from Gonaives to Bordeaux struck on despatch with clear negative "GONAIVES / PAYÉ" oval handstamp in black. British P.O. "JACMEL" double arc cds on reverse (Aug 9) and sent unpaid. London transit on reverse (Sept 6) in red and struck there with 'COLONIES / &c. ART.13' handstamp in red. BORDEAUX arrival cds (Sept 10) on reverse, charged '20' décimes due upon delivery. Scarce and very fine entire.

    1881: 20 c. red-brown on yellowish, a used horizontal strip of five (positions 32-26), large margins all round, cancelled by "Pot au Prince / Haiti" cds's in black. A very scarce large multiple - a strip of five being the second largest used multiple recorded.

    Lot# : 817 Haiti

    1882/85: 5 c. bright green and 7 c. pale blue, perf. 13½, used on 1885 cover to Beauvais, France endorsed "via Southampton", tied by "Port au Prince / Haiti" cds's (June 9) in black. Reverse with Beauvais arrival ((June 28). Both stamps applied slightly off the edge of cover but an unusual 2 cents overpaid usage and most attractive. Ex Brian Moorhouse estate.

    1882: 20 c. red-brown on yellowish, a single example used in combination with 1887 Salomon 2 c. violet in a strip of five on 1888 cover sent registered to New York, tied by "Jeremie / Haiti" circular datestamps (May 29) in black. The cover folded for display at left but complete, with New York arrival (June 7) on reverse. An outstanding and most attractive mixed issue franking.

    1886/87: 5 c. green, New Die, used blocks of four (positions 3-4 / 13-14) cancelled by early "Port au Prince / Haiti" cds's in black (4 Jan 1887) and a second block in a lighter shade (positions 8-9 / 18-19) cancelled by "Port au Prince / Haiti" cds's in black (12 April 1887). "JACMEL" cds in black (April 24) and "Colonies / &c. Art 12" in red; 1845 entire letter from Cayes to Nantes forwarded agent notation in manuscript on reverse in Jacmel with British P.O. Clyde" franked by strip of four 5 c. orange; 1894 hand-made postcard from Jacmel to Cologne franked by 3 c. grey, 5 c. orange and 1892 2 c. deep blue; 1893 postcard to Kiel with single 5 c. orange used from Gonaives, three colour cover from Port au Prince to France with 2 c. blue, 3 c. grey-lilac and 5 c. orange; and 2 c. blue used on Sam 1 c. blue on grey stationery card carried by Dutch ship to Paris.     Official 1935: Postal Stationery cards (4) overprinted SERVICE / OFFICIEL with printed backs, 2 c. orange on pink cards (2) used  with VERIFICATION handstamp in blue (H&G D1) ,each used from Port Au Prince one dated 23 April 1935 and the other 14 June; 1 c. de gourde blue on light blue (H&G D4) used from Port Au Prince to Germany with VERIFICATION handstamp in blue, and a further example with the Verification handstamp to the same address.
