Reverse struck by Prussian framed "EMMERICH - OBERHAUSEN" T.P.O. datestamp and distribution cachet, a credit of '3' silbergroschen was noted in manuscript. 1852 (May 25): Registered double rate envelope from Maastricht directed to the orphanage of the municipality of Rickenbach TG, Switzerland, bearing a superb horizontal strip of four 1852 Willem 15 c. orange, an impressive multiple with good to large margins in a vibrant shade, tied by clear FRANCO - halfrond datestamp of Maastricht. FRANCO and CHARGE handstamps in black, Prussian framed 'Recomandirt' handstamp in red alongside. Reverse shows a plethora of German and Swiss ambulant as well as AACHEN, FRANKFURT, BASEL, ZÜRICH and WYL transit cds's. A most interesting cover full of postal history.

1870 (April 16): Double rate Entire letter from Schiedam to New York bearing 1867 Willem 50 c. golden, type I, a fine and fresh example with good perforation and deep vibrant colour, tied by dotted '95' numeral, SCHIEDAM despatch cds in black and "NEW YORK PAID ALL" arrival (April 28) cds in red alongside. Horizontal file fold not distracting at all from this rare and splendid usage, the Corinphila card index knows three other covers, certs. C. Muis (1984), E. 1812/72: Selection 14 covers / entires incl. two 1812 prephilatelic entires during Napoleonic occupation from "P 122 P LEUWAARDEN" and "123 GRONINGUE", seven covers with 1864 frankings, one local, two inland, one in the 10 c. border rate to Belgium, two to Belfast and one to Nimes, five covers with 1867/70 frankings, all franked with different adhesive combinations in the 20 cents rate to France, also the 1951 Airmail stamps unmounted og. The lot includes in addition four covers from the Dutch Indies with 1843/49 two prephilatelic entires from Sourabaya, 1886 Banjermasin to Marakahan, and 1891 registered Medan to Germany.
