    1860 (April): Envelope from an unknown Ceylon post office to London, endorsed "via Marseilles", bearing 1857/59 8 d. brown, a superb example with exceptional margins and 1 d. blue, a fine example just touched at base, both tied by barred obliterator, the One Penny in addition by "LONDON PAID" arrival (May 15, 1860) cds in red. Reverse with indistinct "... STEAMER-LETTER" port cds in red. Cover with some corner wear and toning, nevertheless an outstanding 'via Marseilles' cover of great rarity, Kurt Kimmel & Patrick C. Pearson mention in their 2020 monograph only 18 covers with the Eight Pence. Cert. BPA (1976), Scheller (2014).rnProvenance: 59. Corinphila sale (Oct. 1976), lot 3901.

    1866/68: 1 d. blue, wmk. Crown CC, a fine vertical strip of five used on 1869 'Asia Rate' cover to Jardine Mathieson in Hong Kong, neatly tied by "B" obliterators and "Stamped" in manuscript, with "GALLE / PAID" cds in red at left (Aug 24). Reverse with scarce "Hong Kong / Marine Sorter" cds (Sept 2) in black. A scarce and most appealing franking.

    Recess by De La Rue 1867/70: De La Rue Imprimatur for 1 d. value in a horizontal pair, imperforate on watermarked Crown CC paper (21½ mm.), in a resonant rich deep blue shade, clear to large margins all round, fine large part og. Scarce and most attractive. Signed Scheller.

Crown CA, perf. 14, overprinted types 32, 33 and 35 (two of Gi 209 and 211), each further overprinted by local SPECIMEN handstamp (Samuel type CE4) diagonally in red, also 1899/1900 Definitive set of nine values to 2 r. 25 c. complete, all overprinted SPECIMEN in black.
