    1854/55: India 1 a. red, Die I, nine single examples, overlapping to avoid the address, used on 1855 entire letter from Pondichery to Bordeaux endorsed "Steamer via Suez", prepaid 1 a. internal and 8 a. to Alexandria, all tied by dotted lozenge in black. Reverse with framed PONDICHERY datestamp of despatch (Feb 10) with crescent INDIA PAID in red on obverse. Madras transit (Feb 12) in red, with French entry marking overstruck by '10' décimes due marking in black, for a letter under 7½ grams.     Aden 1855: India 4 a. black on blue glazed paper, used on visiting card size envelope from Aden to Bombay tied by fine "124" numeral obliterator in black. Circular "ADEN / B.P.P. / PAID" handstamp in red at left and reverse with "Aden Str. Point / Paid" cds in red (Sept. 2). A rare and most attractive usage. Cert. BPA (2006).

    1865: 1 a. deep brown and 2 a. orange, used on 1880 entire letter from Calcutta to Port Louis, Mauritius endorsed "via Bombay & Aden" tied by Calcutta duplex (March 10) in black with further despatch cds below in red; paying the above ½ and below 1 ounce rate. Reverse witrh "Sea Post Office / D" cds and carried on P&O steamer "Sumatra" to Aden and French steamer "Alphee" to Mauritius with arrival (April 3). Scarce and fine.

    1865: India 8 p. purple and 2 a. orange (3) used on 1869 cover from Bombay to Mauritius endorsed "via Aden" all tied by "Bombay / India Paid / 1" duplexes (Aug 10) in black and by firm's chop in red, paying the 6 a. 8 p. rate for an under ½ ounce letter. Carried on the P&O steamer "Salsette" to Aden and the French steamer "Ermine" to Réunion and Mauritius. Reverse with Aden double arc cds in red (Aug 19) and arrival cds (Sept 7), charged with "1d. / TO PAY" handstamp in blue. Slight bend on adhesives but a charming and attractive entire.

    1865: India 2 a. orange (2) used with 1867 6 a. 8 p. slate on 1870 entire letter from Calcutta to Mauritius endorsed "via Bombay & Aden" tied by "B/1" obliterators in blue, paying the 10 a. 8 p. rate for an under 1 ounce letter. Carried on the P&O steamer "Mooltan" to Aden and the French steamer "Mozambique" to Réunion and Mauritius. Reverse with Aden double arc cds in blue and arrival cds (March 19) in blue, charged with "1d. / TO PAY" handstamp in blue. A fine and attractive franking.

    1865: India 4 a. green, a single example used on 1866 cover front and part back to Mauritius endorsed "Via Aden, Stamped", tied by "Bombay / India Paid / 1" duplex (March 29) in black. Carried on the "Golconda" to Aden and the "Sultan" to Mahé and Mauritius. The cover was underpaid 5 d. for the Sept 1865 8 annas rate (note '10' in manuscript) and taxed at double the deficiency on receipt with scarce "1/4d. / TO PAY" handstamp in blue for 10 d. + 6 d. inward charge. Mauritius cds (April 24) on reverse. Scarce.

    1883: 3a orange, horizontal pair, neatly cancelled by two strikes of the "BRITISH-ARMY-POST-OFFICE EGYPT code A, dated MY 7 85, applied after the fall of KHARTOUM by Forces attached to the General Gordon relief expedition. Minor imperfections on right hand stamp. Very rare and unusual on Indian adhesives. Certificate Todd AIEP.

    1854: Small collection on one sheet made up of six examples ½ a. blue, 1 a. red (6), 2 a. green (2), and 4 a. red and blue cut to shape, with a March 1858 entire letter from Madras to Mayaveram franked 1 a. red and 2 a. green. There are a number of different postmarks, the quality of the stamps is somewhat mixed.

'100th Crossing of the South Atlantic'), 1 Gold Coast, 7 Indochina, 1 Italian East Africa, 1 Japan, 1 Madagascar, 6 Mozambique, 1 Nepal, 1 Nicaragua, 1 Portugal, 1 Portugese India, 1 Thailand, 1 Uganda. A very desirable archive.
