1864: Prepaid cover from Buenos Ayres to Bahia, Brazil with two strikes of circular "Consulate Suisse / Buenos-Ayres" cachets in blue, struck with British P.O. "♚ / PAID AT / BUENOS AYRES" in black and rated "1/-" in red manuscript at top. Reverse with unusual usage of double arc BUENOS-AYRES cds (March 26) and single ring cds (March 29) each in black. French Steamers 1864/1904: Small collection of covers/cards (8) and two pieces with 1864 entire with octagonal "CONF. ARGENTINE / SAINTONGE" datestamp (Sept. 12) rated "8" décimes in Bordeaux, two 1865 entires at double and triple rates each struck with "CONF. ARGENTINE / CARMEL" and carried on the same voyage, one taxed "16" and the other "24" décimes on arrival; 1868 entire letter from Montevideo to Genova struck with circular "MONTEVIDEO / PAQ. FR. K. No 1" in black (July 15), 1885 cover with Montevideo Concular seal in blue with Type Sage 25 c. bistre on yellow cancelled octagonal "BUENOS-AYRES / PAQ. FR. 1856/1924: ROSARIO, collection of early entires, stamps and ephemera, with twenty letters beginning with a prephilatelic clear double oval strike FRANCA, then 1862 Argentine Republic 5c rose good margined copy on letter from Buenos Aires to San Juan with blue double circle arrival, and the same double circle CORREIO DEL ROSARIO on front with close cut horizontal pair to TUCUMAN. Arguably the outstanding item is an 1882 registered letter with mixed 32c franking between 1867 Rivadavia 8c and 1873 Moreno 4c to Italy. 1925/1972: Collection of over 110 Airmail covers, beginning with a couple 1925 internal flights in both directions RIO - CORDOBA, two 1932 ZEPPELIN PAN-AMERICA flights, as well as a range of subsequent flights. Mail to Europe dominates this collection, with a good range of advertising cards for the competing CONDOR and AIR FRANCE service. A CRISTOBAL CZ plane crash cover from 1937 with stamps missing bears testimony to the difficulties aviation pioneers faced. The collection also includes the rare 1932 first experimental flight from BUENOS AIRES to MONTEVIDEO, as well as the first direct flight from BUENOS AIRES to NEW YORK.
