    1858/62: Britannia 4 d. green, close to large margins on three sides, used on 1859 cover from Port Louis to Marseille endorsed "p. Neptune via Aden" tied by mute obliterator in black. Reverse with "GPO / MAURITIUS" datestamp (June 20) in black. Faint "PAYS. ETR. V. SUEZ / AMB. C." datestamp in red and handstruck '8' décimes charge marking in black. Weak along file folds but a scarce and attractive cover. Signed Holcombe.

    1859/61: 6 d. blue, imperforate with large even margins all round, used in combination with 1860 2 d. blue. perf. 14 on 1861 cover from Port Louis to Bordeaux endorsed "via Marseilles" each tied by circular PAID handstamp in black. Reverse with fine "♚ / MAURITIUS / GPO" datestamp (May 6) in black, obverse with "PAYS ETR. V. SUEZ / AMB. A" entry marking in red (June 3) and charged '8' décimes due in black: tariff of 1 Jan 1857. 'Toulouse a Bordeaux' cds and Bordeaux arrival cds (June 5) on reverse of a charming and rare mixed issue franking. Cert. BPA (1972).

    1859: Dardenne 2 d. blue, a horizontal pair with huge margins all round, left hand stamp showing dramatic Plate Flaw with diagonal scratch running down behind the Queen's head (positions 13-14), used on 1860 cover to Bordeaux endorsed "via Suez" tied by target handstamps in black. Reverse with "♚ / MAURITIUS / GPO" despatch in black (Feb 7) and Bordeaux arrival cds (March 9). The pair also tied by "PAYS. ETR. V. SUEZ / AMB.     1860/63: 4 d. rose, no wmk., perf. 14, a single example used on 1860 entire letter from Port Louis to Nantes endorsed "via Suez and France", tied by mute obliterator in black. Reverse with double circle "G.P.O. / MAURITIUS" despatch cds (Nov 3) in black and circular "PAYS-ETR / V.SUEZ AMB" in red (Dec 5) on obverse. Charged '8' décimes due upon receipt in black. File fold not affecting the adhesive, scarce.

Nepaul via Suez & Marseille" tied by two strikes of "B53" obliterators in black with "Mauritius" despatch cds, code A in blue on reverse (April 6). Struck with oval framed "INSUFFICIENTLY / PREPAID" in red and framed "GB / 1F 62 4/10c." accountancy marking in blue applied on despatch. Circular  "PAYS ETR. V. SUEZ / A MARSEILLE B" in red on front (May 4) and charged due '18' décimes in black for double rate. Arrival cds on reverse of a rare and most attractive entire.

Crown CC, perf. 14, a single example with straight edge at left, used on 1865 entire Printed Prices Current to Bordeaux endorsed "Via Suez & Marseille", tied by "B53" obliterator and struck with framed "GB / 1F 80c." accountancy marking in black. Circular POSS. ANG V. SUEZ / A MARSEILLE" in red below (Feb 6) and struck there with "15c." charge marking in red. A most attractive and most elusive usage.

Str. via Galle & Marseille" tied by "B53" obliterator in black. Three line "FORWARDED BY / J. VINCENT-GEORGE / MAURITIUS" in blue at lower left and octagonal Marseille entry marking in red, charged with handstruck '15c.' in red. File fold but very scarce, the contents also fascinating with one entire page of shipping arrivals and departures.
