    Italy 1863 (Oct 6): Entire letter from Bergamo to Bordeaux, forwarded to Tournon-sur-Rhône, Ardèche, showing "Timbre insuffisant" in manuscript, bearing 1855 Sardinia 10 c. bistre, a late usage after the proclamation of the Kingdom of Italy in combination with Italy 1863 (April) 15 c. blue, two fine and fresh adhesives, tied by light "BERGAMO BASSA" despatch cds in black, French "ITALIE 9 OCT 63 AMB Mt CENIS" entry cds in red alongside. The addressee was not present and the cover was again despatched at the "BORDEAUX LES CHARTRONS" post office, where Italian adhesives and datestamps were crossed by pen and a "30" taxe tampon was struck on front. Reverse with a whole plethora of transit and ambulant cds's as well as an indistinct TOURNON arrival cds. An interesting cover which was insufficiently franked to cover the 40 c. rate to France but finally only taxed for the inland forwarding. Signed A. Diena; cert. Vaccari (2008) Zanaria 0,25 M.

    Italy 1862 (Sept 20): Cover from Bologna to Paris, forwarded to Courson-les-Carrières, Yonne, bearing 1862 first Italian issue 20 c. indigo in a horizontal pair, a fine multiple, tied by light BOLOGNA despatch cds in black, "P.D." handstamp and French "ITALIE 23 SEPT .. LANSLEBOURG" entry cds, both in red alongside. The addressee was not in Paris and the cover was again despatched by throwing it into the postbox, Italian adhesives and datestamps were crossed by pen, a framed "Trouvé à la Boite" handstamp and a "PARIS 30c" taxation datestamp (Sept 23) was struck on front. Reverse with TORINO and PARIS transit as well as an indistinct arrival cds's. An interesting cover full of character, coming from abroad but taxed for a French inland forwarding.     Italy 1873/94: Lot ten covers incl. 1873 cover paid only at the Italian inland rate, 1874 printed matter franked correctly at the 6 c. printed matter rate with DLR 1 c. & 5 c., taxed as the item was sent with a commercial steamer, 1876/77 two covers paid only at single rate abroad, 1879 envelope franked in Rome with French adhesives, 1888 open mourning envelope franked insufficiently with only 2 c. instead of 5 c. first with a timbre taxe Duval 10 c. then with a rare pair of 3 c. black (Maury 12 = € 700+), 1887 unfranked cover taxed with Duval 10 c. and a rare pair of 20 c. (Maury 17 = € 500+), 1893 Italian telegram forwarded unpaid from a hotel in Genova to one in Nice and taxed with rare Duval 50 c. black (Maury 20 = € 475). A very interesting and diverse lot.
