    Antilles 1891: Haiti 3 c. grey-lilac and 1892/95 7 c. red, used on cover from Port au Prince to Bordeaux, addressee's name excised, endorsed "via New York"  tied by Port au Prince cds's (June 29) with triangular 'T' mark adjacent as cover found to be double rate. The original franking ignored and taxed at double the deficiency with 1881/92 Van Dyck Postage Due 1 fr. marron (Maury T25) tied on arrival. Rare.

    Antilles 1896: Haiti 2 c. red-brown, five examples including a strip of three, used on 1897 cover to Bordeaux endorsed "par S.S. Prins Willem IV, via New York", with triangular "T" mark in black below. Found to be double weight, original franking ignored and taxed at double deficiency with Postage Due 50 c. lilac-brown in an interpanneau pair (Jan 10, 1898); together with an entirely underpaid 1891 single rate cover sent stampless to Paris from Port au Prince (June 1) taxed on arrival with 10 c. black (2) and 30 c. black on arrival (June 17). Minor imperfections but a scarce pair.

    Lot# : 7431 Haiti

    1899: Haiti 5 c. pale blue in a vertical pair used on 1900 cover to Paris endorsed "por S.S. St. Simon", tied by 'Gonaives' despatch cds's (June 9) with triangular "T" marking adjacent in black. Letter found to be double rate, annotated "2/25 c." and original franking ignored and taxed 1 franc on arrival with Postage Due 1893 50 c. lilac-brown (2) cancelled in black.
