    Austrian Shipmail, Mailing Facilities on Board of Ships, Lake of Garda 1862: Local entire letter written in Malapineli nearby Peschiera del Garda and sent to Desenzano Lombardy on the Italian part of the lake, bearing 1861 5 kr. red, a fine and fresh adhesive, tied by ornate framed "Imp = Reg = Vapori" handstamp ('Muschelstempel') in black (Tchilinghirian fig. 353 / Müller 3421a) in the typical bold appearance of the late years with three-ring "PESCHIERA 15 / 7" despatch cds alongside. Front shows in addition a '5' centesimi due for the Italian part of the journey. A most interesting cover.rnNote: An exceptional usage between two neighbouring villages situated at the southern end of the Lago di Garda, where the Western part became a part of Italy together with the entire Lombardy in 1859, while the eastern shore was still under Austrian control with entire Venetia up to 1866.

    Austrian Shipmail, Port Markings for Ship letters, Adriatic Sea 1867 (May): Postal stationery envelope 1863 5 kr. red small format from Spalato to Venice, the indicium cancelled with perfect two-line "SPALATO / COL VAPORE" handstamp in black (Müller 3423i). Postal treaty handstamps "A.3" and "CRED. AUT 3" as well as "AFF. INSUFF. " handstamp and Italian '10' (c.) due alongside. Reverse with Sebenico and Zara transit cds's (May 26) as well as Italian ambulant, two VENEZIA arrival cds's (May 29, 1867) and postman's cachet '19'. Rare shipmail usage of this stationery, part of lower backflap missing, nevertheless a very attractive item.

    Austrian Shipmail, Port Markings for Ship letters, Adriatic Sea 1871 (April 28): Entire letter from Sebenico to Vienna, bearing stationery envelope cutout 1867 coarse whiskers 5 kr. red with imitated perforation, tied by perfect two-line "SEBENICO / COL VAPORE" handstamp in black (Tchilinghirian fig. 21 / Klein 7950a = 100 points). Reverse with Zara transit and Wien arrival cds (April 27). A very rare usage of the cutout with this crisp cancellation on attractive cover to a Vienna musical instrument company. Cert. Ferchenbauer (1989) Ferchenbauer = € 2'000.rnNote: The usage of stationery cutouts was already forbidden since 1861, a regulation which was affirmed in 1866. Thus, cutouts from the 1867 issues are difficult to find. Such a usage with faked perforation to delude the postal authorities which made its way to the receiver without being taxed is an exceptional item.rnThe 'Gebrüder Placht' company was one of the great manufacturers of musical instruments in Vienna, the center of this craft in Austria with more than one hundred companies in the city.

Three ring "PESCHIERA 14 / 12" transit cds alongside and reverse with "CASTIGLIONE DELLE STIVIERE 15 DIC" transit cds.     Austrian Shipmail, Adriatic Sea 1865 (Jan): Entire letter from Trieste to Ancona, endorsed "Col Vapore", bearing fine examples of 1861 3 kr. green in a horizontal pair and 15 kr. blue, tied / cancelled by oval "NAVIGAZIONE A VAPORE / DEL LLOYD AUSTRIACO" company cachet in blue, "P.D." handstamp in red and ANCONA arrival (Jan 16) in black alongside. Reverse with an additional arrival and octagonal distribution handstamp. Horizontal file fold well away from the franking and some toning, nevertheless a most interesting usage on the ship line Trieste - Ancona - Corfu - Piraeus - Constantinople. Signed R. Mondolfo and Raybaudi Ferchenbauer = € 3'250 for the obliteration of the adhesives only by a company cachet.
