    1851/60: 3 d. deep blue on bluish, a fine and fresh example with good to large margins, lightly tied by 'Bars in Oval' obliterator to cover to Halifax. Reverse with "AMHERST N.S." despatch cds (April 19, 1856) in black as well as oval arrival datestamp in black (April 22). A fine item.

    1851/60: 6 d. deep green on bluish, a fine and fresh example with good to large margins, lightly tied by 'Bars in Oval' obliterator and "ST. JOHN N.B." transit cds (July 14, 1859) to cover to Winchendon, Massachusetts. Reverse with indistinct despatch cds (July 11, 1859) in black, obverse with red "PAID 10" in circle denoting the US postage paid. Opened for presentation purposes on three sides, an appealing cover paying the 6 d. rate for ½ ounce to the United States. Cert. Holcombe (1991).

    1860/63: 10 c. vermillion, the upper left half of a diagonally bisected example, a fine and fresh example with vivid colour, used as 5 c. franking and neatly tied by 'Bars in Oval' obliterator and "GUYSBOROUGH N.S." despatch cds (July 10, 1861) to cover to Halifax. Reverse with oval arrival datestamp cds of the next day. Part of backflap missing, still a very appealing usage to pay the letter inland rate. Cert. BPS (1956) Gi = £ 750
