ANG. BASSE-TERRE GUADEe 12 OCT. 74"  cds and "COL. FR. V. ANGL. LE HAVRE 28 OCT 74" entry cds in red alongside. An appealing cover paying the 70 c. Shipmail rate via the United Kingdom.

    Guadeloupe 1880 (March 25): Cover from Pointe à Pitre to Marseille, endorsed "Voie anglaise", bearing General Issues Cérès 25 c. blue type III, a fine single adhesive with good to huge margins and fresh colour, tied by superb "PAQ. ANG. POINTE A PITRE GUADEe 25 MARS 80" cds, a splendid information strike and "UNION. V. ANGL. A CALAIS C 24 AVRL 80" entry cds alongside. Reverse with Marseille arrival cds. Lightest horizontal file fold at base of the cover, nevertheless a most attractive cover, a late usage of the Cérès definitive to pay the UPU rate after the abolishmnent of the 'Voie de Mer' surtaxe. Unlisted in Yvert.
