    1810 (May 20): Colonial entire letter prepaid from Panama to Cartagena, struck with partially framed "PANAMÁ." handstamp in red (Tizón fig. 2 = RR) and straight line "FRANCA." in red (fig. 4) and, above wonderful strike of "VYVA FERNANDO 7" patriotic handstamp (in support of the Spanish King Ferdinand VII deposed by Napoleon Bonaparte in May 1808) also in red (Tizón fig. 3 = EXT). Rated '2' reales prepaid to destination. A marvellous entire of great rarity - Dr. Hugo Goeggel's collection contained an unpaid cover (Corinphila, Feb 2013, lot 4265). This describer who has handled both covers believes this to be the finest example known.rnrnrn

    1842 (Sept 27): Entire letter from New York with interesting political content, mailed to Valparaiso via Forwarding Agent in Jamaica (deleted on address panel), struck with framed "PANAMA / Nov 25 1842 / FORWARDED BY / FREDERICK W. BYRNE" in  black. Rated '1½' reales due in manuscreipt on receipt. A fine entire that displays well. Ex collection Percy Bargholtz.

    1845c.: Cover from Portovelo (Colon) to Bogotá, addressed to Pedro Alcántara Herrán (1800-1872), Governor of the Province and later President of New Granada; struck with superb strike of rare abbreviated "PORTOVELO" handstamp in red (Tizón fig. 1). The cover folded with manuscript '4' rate marking at top and an oval handstamp removed. Despite this fault, a fine example of an extremely rare marking. Cert. Philatelic Foundation (2004).

    1846 (Dec 1): Entire letter from Arica, Peru rated '2/-' in manuscript, to Guingamp, France struck on reverse in transit with British P.O. PANAMA double arc cds (Dec 23) in red (scarce thus). Thence via London (Feb 8) and struck there with "Colonies / &c. Art.13" in red and rated '18' décimes to pay in manuscript.

    1853c.: Cover from Valparaiso to San Francisco, USA with sender's cachet in blue at lower left, struck with oval "FORWARDED BY / J.M. FREEMAN / AGENT OF / ADAMS & Ca. EXPRESS / PANAMA" in red, with handstruck '40' (cents) rate marking in black applied on arrival. Scarce.

    1857 (April 11): Entire letter from Lima, Peru to San Francisco with 'Belloc Frères & Sescau' sender's cachet in green at left, transmitted outside the mails as consignee's letter to Panama where struck with fine oval "FREEMAN'S & CO'S / EXPRESS / PANAMA / COVA & Co. AGENTS" Forwarding cachet in red, again transmitted outside the mails as consignee's letter to destination with internal docketing of receipt (May 18). A fine entire.

    1918/20c. Essay for proposed design by Bruce Hay, engraver for the American Banknote Company, featuring three funnelled liner, possibly for Panama bicoloured Canal Issue judging by the outer scroll work, beautifully engraved in black on thick card. A rare and most appealing piece of artwork.
