    Victoria. 1856 (March 7): 2d. dull lilac-mauve, lithographed horizontal pair with large margins all round, barely touched at upper right corner, tied by '1' numeral obliterator on official entire letter endorsed 'O.H.M.S.' from Melbourne to Geelong, arrival datestamp on reverse (March 8). An interesting cover addressed from the GPO enquiring after a lost letter to Castlemaine that had not been delivered. Opinion Holcombe (1997).

    1866 (Dec 28): Cover from Melbourne to St. Servan, France franked by Laureated 1863/74 2 d. grey violet and 6 d. blue tied by Melbourne duplexes on despatch, struck with framed "Insufficiently / Paid" in red and by "GB / 1F 62 4/10 c." Anglo-French accountancy marking (Van Der Linden fig. 1601) in red on front, both applied on despatch. Marseille entry marking also on front (Feb 10) in red and reverse with Paris cds (Feb 11) and arrival. A scarce and most attractive usage.

    1880 (March 12): Cover, vertical crease away from adhesives, from Geelong to Albisrieden, Zurich/Switzerand endorsed "Via Italy", franked by 1867/81 8 d. red brown on pink and single bantam 1873/87 1/2 d. red on white paper tied by "Geelong / 2" duplex in black, reverse with Melbourne transit.
