1869: Duloz 10 pa. violet and 1871/72 2 pi. orange used on cover from Bursa to Constantinople cancelled by fine impression of all arabic "Bursa" framed handstamps in black (C&W fig. 142) with further strike below on flap and reverse with Postage Due 1 pi. tied by oval "Bachtche Capussi" datestamp. 1876/77: 10 pa. lilac, 20 pa. green, 1 pi. yellow and 1869/73 Postage Due 1 pi. red brown all used on reverse of large part letter-sheet to Smyrne, tied by bold strikes of oval negative "Edremit" handstamps in blue (Coles & Walker fig. 37) with Smyrne arrival (Oct 17) alongside in black. File folds but an exceptional four colour usage. Also 1875 20 pa. green, 1 pi. yellow pair and 1876/77 10 pa. lilac, 20 pa. green (3, one with fault), 1 pi. yellow all used on cover written in Armenian script and cancelled by unclear negative seal handstamps in black, signed Calves. Note: Membership of the UPU obliged member states to indicate or identify values in western numerals. Marvellous large piece of paper with impressions of all the handstamps to be found in the Ottoman Post Office, with "Rados Echelle", negative intaglio seals, bilingual "Après Départ", the circular "T" markings, "AR" and Registered handstamps (36 strikes in all). Palestine 1917: Front half of 1 pi. grey-blue postal stationery letter-card, struck with violet star & crescent cachet (Censorship exemption) in violet, addressed to Tul Karm with rare provisonal postmark of "GAZA" in violet. This cancellation is believed to have been in use for just a few weeks prior to the British Forces occupying Gaza in November 1917.
