    1896 (March 27): Switzerland 25 Rp. green postal stationery envelope (Zumstein 31), used from Bern to Peking/China addressed to the Belgian Legation, with reverse showing Hong Kong transit cds (April 26) and red "Customs / Peking" (May 4) datestamp on obverse. The cover was resealed with "Legation De Belgique En Chine" red wafer seal and sent to Shanghai with two strikes of "I.G. OF CUSTOMS / PEKING" on reverse (May 25), "CUSTOMS / TIENTSIN" in blue (May 26) and franked by 1894 Dowager issue 3 c. orange-yellow tied by blue Tientsin chop for local postage with "CUSTOMS / SHANGHAI" (May 30) arrival also in blue. Mailed back to Berne via French P.O. in Shanghai (June 5) and carried on French Paquebot with octagonal "Ligne N / Paq. Fr. No. 9" (June 6) and Berne re-arrival (July 1). A dramatic and extremely rare cover in excellent quality for the connoisseur of both Swiss and Chinese Postal History. Cert. BPB (2008).
