    1871 (March 7): Great Britain 1864/79 1 d. red pl. 138, three single examples used with 1867/80 1 s. green pl. 4, slight fault at top and wing margin folded around the edge of the envelope, used on 1871 cover from Ascension to Berlin; one 1 d. red tied by "ASCENSION" circular 20 mm. datestamp (March 17, code A) and the balance of the stamps cancelled by readable "INSUFFICIENTLY / STAMPED" handstamps in black presumably in lieu of an obliterator. 'London / Paid' datestamp (April 7) and circular 'PD' in red and reverse with Berlin arrival datestamp (April 9) in black. Small closed opening tears at top of envelope, an extraordinary and extremely rare cover. Cert. BPA (2001).
