Two file folds do not detract from a superb strike of this rare marking Gi = £ 4'500.

    Lithographed by Transfer 1871/78: Lithographed 1 d. vermilion-red, perf. 11½, a horizontal pair used on 1880 cover to New York (Maynard correspondence) tied by two strikes of the "A09" obliterator with manuscript '2' in red crayon at left and fine NEVIS cds at left (April 25) in black. Reverse with Danish P.O. in St. Thomas transit cds (May 5) and 'New York / Paid All' arrival (May 18). Envelope minutely trimmed at left but a very rare cover - one of only three perf. 11½ covers recorded this being unique with  a horizontal pair, mailed at the newly introduced UPU rate - introduced in October 1879 and lasting until October 1880 only.
