Reverse with Athens transit cds and part strike of Italian datestamp, a charming four colour franking Hellas 2b+4b+7a+19e.

Reverse with further Athens cds. The 2 l. & 10 l. stamps touched on one side, all stamps otherwise with large margins and fresh colours, an attractive four colour franking Hellas 16d+18a+19a+22a.

    Incoming from Romania 1871: Unpaid cover from Ismail in Southern Bessarabia to Corfu endorsed "Via Vienna", Ismail despatch cds (Kiriac fig. 401) in blue on front (Aug 23). On arrival in Hydra the cover was charged with '100' lepta in blue crayon and franked with Consecutive Athens printings 80 l. rose-carmine and 1871/72 printing 20 l. sky-blue, both with fresh colours, each touched on one side, tied by Kerkyra arrival (Aug 23j) cds. Reverse with Galati and Triest transit cds's. Cover with some toning, but an interesting item from a rare provenance Hellas 22a+35a.

    Incoming from Romania 1871: Piece from a partially prepaid cover from Braila to Piraeus, bearing Romania 1869 King Carol 50 bani blue & red, a fresh single with large margins all round, tied by clear Braila despatch (Dec11) cds (Kiriac fig. 487) in black. As always with the erroneously applied framed PD of the Greek Office alongside, on arrival charged with Cleaned Plates 1868/69 20 l. sky-blue, an irregularly cut single with parts of neighbouring stamp, but shaved at base, tied by arrival (Dec 13) cds. Disinfection slit between the stamps and file fold crossing both adhesives. Unfortunately just a piece Hellas 27a.

    Incoming from Romania 1872: Unpaid cover to Corfu, Galati despatch cds (Kiriac fig. 500) in black (July 19) on front, upon arrival in Hydra the cover was charged with '100' lepta in blue crayon and franked with 1871/72 printing 20 l. sky-blue, touched at base, and two singles of Meshed paper printings 1871/76 40 l. dull olive-green on blue with large margins all round, all with fresh colours and tied by Kerkyra arrival (July 17j) cds. Reverse with Wien and Triest transit cds's. Cover with light vert. fold well away from the stamps and some edge wear, but an interesting and rare usage Hellas 35a+42/Ia.

On arrival in Piraeus charged with '50' lepta in red crayon, franked with Consecutive Athens printings 10 l. red-orange on blue and 40 l. mauve on blue, both with vivid colours and good to large margins, tied by Piraeus arrival (Apr 9) cds, reverse with Odessa rhomboid transit cds. A most attractive cover Hellas 18e+22a.

    Incoming from Russia 1871 (Dec 4): Partially prepaid entire letter from Taganrog to Hydra, bearing Russia 1864 Arms 3 kop. black & green perf 12½ in combination with 1865 3 kop. black & green and 5 kop. black & violet perf 14½ as well as 1866 10 kop. brown & blue on horizontally laid paper (Mi 10+13+14+21) tied by Taganrog despatch cds in black. Odessa (Dec 11) and Constantinople transit cds alongside. As the Russian franking paid only the journey to Constantinople, upon arrival in Hydra, the cover was charged with '45' lepta in blue crayon, franked with Consecutive Athens printings 5 l. olive-green and 40 l. mauve on greenish blue, both with fresh colours and good to large margins, tied by Piraeus arrival (Dec 20) cds. Cover with edge wear and vertical filing fold and two disinfection slits away from the stamps. An extremely rare franking combination, full of character and postal history content. Argos (2), Amfissa (2), Anafi, Andrusa (2), Areopolis, Atalanti, Gastuni, Gytheion (6), Thiva, Kalamei (6), Korinth (6), Kyllene, Kyparissia (4), Lamia (2), Levadia (5), Limeni, Nauplion (6), Xiro Chorio (2) on Crete, Patras incl. one registered usage (1841), Piraeus, Pilos(8), Sparta (11) and Syros. A fine and rare assembly with many Ex Franz See, viewing recommended.
