    1818 (Aug 29): Entire letter from Rio de Janeiro to Macerata via Lisbon and Rome, with reverse showing manuscript Forwarding Agent's notation "Oggi ricevuta d'encaminata del suo servitasa D. Francisco Lignago - Lisbona 25 Nbre. 1818" and consequently mailed with framed LISBOA handstamp on obverse in black. Reverse with two line dated MACERATA / 23 DIC. arrival with charge to pay of '187' altered from initial '85' bajocchi. Early and rare.

    1819 (Sept 10): Long entire religious letter from Monte Santo to Rio de Janeiro endorsed "Lisbona per Rio Janeiro", struck with fine framed RECANATI handstamp in red (Macerata), disinfected with two slits on face panel, presumably on arrival in Lisbon by ship from Ancona or Rome; "720" (reis) due marking at upper right in manuscript. An extremely unusual and rare early usage to Brazil from Italy and in remarkably fine quality.

    1843 (July 27): Entire letter from Sao Paulo to Rio de Janeiro using the pre-philatelic rate with manuscript "50" reis to pay at top, struck with superb strike of circular CORREIO GERAL DE S. PAULO datestamp in blue (July 30), two days prior to the Bullseye issue. Full docketing of receipt inside (August 4). Flap faults on reverse but a rare and most unusual entire. Cert.     1852: Two covers from Rio de Janeiro with British steamers to Porto, showing on reverse RIO JANEIRO despatch and LISBOA or TRANSATLANTICO arrival datestamps, on front oval "LEY de 20/4 50 15 Rs" in red and Portuguese taxations, one cover shows in addition the blue "P. BRITo" handstamp for incoming mail from the United Kingdom, both entires show disinfection slits.

    1843 (Aug 1): 30 reis black, Early Impression in a deep shade, from First Composite plate, State A, position 6 on greyish paper; a fine used example showing the outer frame lines at top and at right and part of adjoining stamp at base, tied to large part piece by circular CORREIO DE MARANHAO datestamp (December 1, 1843) well struck in red (Ayres fig. 1615).     1890/91: Southern Cross 1000 r. bistre, a single example used on 300 r. black postal stationery envelope sent registered / AR to Colchester, England tied by MACEIO / ALAGOAS cds (March 12, 1895) in black. Framed 'A.R.' at left and registration cachet, reverse with Colchester arrival cds (April 9). Slightly buckled at left but an extremely rare stamp on letter.

(2), all used, Inclinados up to 600 r. used on thin greyish paper, Verticais up to 600 r. with vert. marginal strip of seven of the 30 r., Coloridos up to 430 r. used/unused, Verticais perf., Dom Pedro in multitude with cancellation interest, 1884 Numeral design up to 1'000 r., 1932 Zeppelin, also some covers, 1930s commemorative issues as imperf. proofs, in addition postage due, telegraph stamps, Condor, VARIG, ETA & Luftschiffbau Zeppelin private Airmail stamps, as well as revenues. A very attractive collection in four albums with overall fine and fresh examples included, the early issues collected specialised for different printings, papers, shades, cancellation interest included, lot contains also a large selection of primarily unused postal stationery and some covers, also prephilatelic and stampless.
