    1870 (Nov 26): Entire letter endorsed 'via Trieste & Ostende' franked by Austrian Levant 1867 3 s. green and pair of 10 s. blue (Mi. 2+4) tied by ALEXANDRIEN datestamps in black. Red 'P.D.' above with '8' (soldi) red credit mark in manuscript alongside. Liverpool arrival cds (Dec 5) on reverse. A scarce usage and route, taken to avoid the hostilities of the Franco-Prussian War.
