    Vera Cruz 2 r. black on rose, a fine example used on April 21, 1864 cover to Oaxaca, tied by FRANQUEADO / VERA CRUZ datestamp in black (Schatzkes fig. 1757A). The cover struck above the adhesive with bold '2' (reales) due marking as Vera Cruz was in the hands of the Conservatives at this date and the cover was charged Postage Due when 'Crossing the Lines' to Juarist held Oaxaca. Rare and very fine cover. Signed Darteyre.
