1818 (Oct 10): Entire letter from Bucharest to Vienna, somewhat fragile due to disinfection at Rothenturn using the 'toasting' method of purification, struck with fine strike of 'BUKUREST / in der Wallachey' two line handstamp in black (Tchilinghirian as fig. 705 but 'Bukurest' in capital letters). Reverse with Rothenturn 'Sanitatis' red wax seal of disinfection. Charged 14 kreuzer to pay on arrival in red crayon. Rare.
