    1881 (July 1): 5 c. yellow-green on greenish, plate I, imperforate, a used horizontal strip of four (positions 3-6) on double rate 1881 cover to London, tied by "Cap Haitien / Haiti" cds's (Aug 4) in black. "Le Havre / Seine Inferieure" transit cds (Aug 26) and London arrival adjacent (Aug 27). Struck in London with circular Eastern District Inspector's marking, perhaps testifying to the scarcity of early Haitian first issue covers coming in to London. Reverse with seal removed and Poplar Sorting Office cds. The largest recorded multiple of this stamp on a superbly attractive cover.rnrnProvenance: Collection Norman S.
