    1881 (July 1): 5 c. yellow-green on greenish, plate I, imperforate, a used horizontal pair, large margins on two sides and close at right (positions 9-10), used on 1881 single rate cover with printed "Administration Générale Des Postes D'Haiti" to Noumea, New Caledonia tied by "Port au Prince / Haiti" cds's (Dec 19) in black. The cover endorsed "via San Francisco" by the writer and "via Kingston" by the Postmaster in blue crayon. Struck there with two line "JAMAICA / TRANSIT" in black. Reverse with Kingston cds (Dec 20), New York transit (Dec 31) and arrival cds (March 2, 1882). The sole recorded cover of the first issue addressed to Asia.rnrnProvenance: Collection Clarence W.
