    1840: 1 d. black, plate 1b, lettered RF-RI, a used horizontal strip of four, faults to margins and to second stamp, horizontal crease,  good to large margins in places, used on August 1840 cover to Barnbarroch, Wigtownshire, cancelled by Maltese Cross in red, RF with partially recut sidelines, RI with retouched check-letters. Despite imperfections, a rare franking for the under 2 ounce quadruple rate, RPSL cert. (2019) Gi AS5e/h.
