    1872 (Apr. 2): 1 Gr. eagle issue 'Small Shield' in vertical pair (usual trivial imperfections of the perforation) clean Alsatian cancel  'ALTKIRCH 2 4 72 ' in double franking with France 25 Centimes 'Ceres' blue. the French stamp tied by numeral cancel, small digits '420' and 'BELFORT' (3. Apr.) placed beside. The letter from Altkirch to Besançon falls within the period of the mutal  non-recognition of the frankings and bears the arrvial on the back (3. Apr.). An attractive item!
