    1848: Official cover endorsed 'OHMS' and 'via Colina' in manuscript at top to Melbourne struck with framed "FREE / ALBERTON" in red. The reverse, opening well for display, showing oval "ALBERTON / ♛ / NEW S. WALES" datestamp (Oct 25) in black. Rare - at this date Alberton was an isolated coastal community with no overland route to Melbourne. Superb.rnProvenance: Collection J.R.W.
