    1903: "Commonwealth" Essay for Victoria 9 d., engraved in black in Die Proof format, imperforate on greyish wove paper (40 x 44 mm.), backed on to thin card. This design was eventually only utilised for New South Wales and Queensland. Illustrated in the "The Stamps of Victoria" by Geoff Kellow on colour plate 16 and discussed on page 308.
